CITY NEWS UPDATES:

Loloma Property to be Sold: The city property to the west of the Scottsdale Artists' School (formerly the Loloma School) and the city bus transit site south of the Museum of the West will enter into escrow if approved at the city council February 13th meeting.  The $27,750,000 agreed price does not include the Artists' School, Stagebrush Theater nor most of the city parking lot north of 2nd St and adjacent to the theater.  On page 2 of the land case/council document it states that the city is in the process of updating the Downtown Character Area Plan and Planned District section of the zoning ordinance that would "expand the existing areas where additional heights of up to 150 feet is allowed".  It further states, "The proposed project would incorporate the additional height..." A hotel and mixed-use buildings are proposed.

City Council subcommittee on Capital Improvement Projects is completing its many months of careful evaluation of much-needed city infrastructure and maintenance projects and how to fund them.  City departments submitted prioritized lists of CIPs which the subcommittee carefully deliberated. Their final list for WHAT projects to recommend to the full council and OPTIONS TO FUND them will be prepared in the next weeks.  COGS will provide a special  report at that time to our readers because of the importance of the funding decision and the need for public support. Councilmen Smith and Phillips and Councilperson Korte were members of the committee. Yes, COGS  attended every CIP subcommittee morning meeting.

Congratulations to the Scottsdale Gallery Association
