Good morning COGS E-Newsletter Reader: At both COGS hosted city council candidate forums this week we were repeatedly asked, "Who is COGS endorsing?" Our, main group The Coalition of Greater Scottsdale (COGS) is a 501 C educational, non-profit organization that represents neighborhoods, individual residents and small merchants and business owners in the city for any city issue or problem they request research, a spokespersons at hearings or city council meetings and/or guidance. The COGS Political Committee is composed of volunteer members and is required by state law to be a separate organization. But they are expected to support candidates who believe and will act on the COGS mission, "consistent land use and preservation of our quality of life".'

Now to answer the question: The COGS PC team sent out a comprehensive questionnaire and each of the eight candidates responded. You can read them on our COGS website beginning this evening here . Then they spent an intensive week interviewing each candidate based on their questionnaire responses and other questions requested by our readers. Last week they attended both of the COGS Forums at the two senior centers and evaluated the candidate responses to the audience questions. The first financial report is due to the city clerk on Monday. They will carefully review each to determine just WHO are the contributors? Are residents and community groups supporting the candidate? July 1st the COGS PC will meet for an entire evening and vet all of their collective information. There are no preconceived "winners". It will no doubt be a lively evening.

They will announce their endorsement July 2nd with a COGS PC website announcement and direct e mails to our paid COGS members. They may select ONE, TWO or THREE candidates to endorse for the three vacant city council seats.

July 4th EVENT: The City of Scottsdale has a full day event at WestWorld that should delight any family or grandparents trying to find some place safe and fun. The following is copied from the city's website:
