Good afternoon, COGS E-Newsletter Reader. Did you act on the Lockbox for Seniors information from the last newsletter?  City Council this Tuesday will have information on those pesky airplane route changes that have increased noise levels over northern to southern Scottsdale. Are you experiencing increased noise from airplanes passing low over your home? As requested by Councilman Phillips, the city council will hear a presentation by Aviation Director Gary Mascaro on the NextGen new over-flight routes .  Attend in the Kiva (city hall) or watch on Channel 11 this Tuesday, May 5th beginning at 5 pm. What else is happening this Tuesday night at City Council ? (1) Request for approval to sell 7575 E Main Street—former Human Resources offices—to Scottsdale Unified School District No. 48 for $2,022,000. Details here. ) Request to pay annual membership dues of $91,780 to the League of Arizona Cities and Towns for FY 2015/16 (3) Approval for the public outreach schedule  for the proposed General Plan 2035 that will be sent to the voters on 1 November 2016. Please attend as many of these public informational meetings as possible. This document sets the policy for city government decisions for the next ten years. It is YOUR city.  Be an informed citizen when you vote in 2016. 

Important NE Valley Flood Control public meetings: The Flood Control District of Maricopa County will hold two public meetings in May to provide information about potential flood risks identified in northern Scottsdale and northeast Phoenix as part of the Pinnacle Peak West Area Drainage Master Study – and to the seek the community’s input on options being considered to reduce these risks.  Each meeting will be focused on one of two geographic sub-areas  (see the study area map and sub-area boundaries at the bottom).  Northwest Watersheds Area Public Meeting is this Wednesday, May 6, 6-8 p.m. Presentation at 6:15 p.m. Holland Community Center 34250 N. 60th St, Scottsdale  and the Rawhide Wash Area Public Meeting is Monday, May 11, 6-8 p.m. Presentation at 6:15 p.m. Grayhawk Golf Club, Fairway House 8620 E. Thompson Peak Pkwy., Scottsdale.

Avoid the Scottsdale Road construction  Improvements are scheduled for Scottsdale Road from Indian School Road south to Earll Drive. Contractors have installed ADA compliant ramps where needed. Beginning May 6 the same section of Scottsdale Road will be milled and repaved. Work is scheduled to take place between 9 p.m. - 5 a.m. All work is planned to be completed by Memorial Day weekend, May 23.
