COGS E-News Reader.  We seldom send you back-to-back newsletters but clarifying how to vote is important.  Also there are a couple of new land case requests that might be in your neighborhood. We had inquiries about the accomplishments/programs of the non-profit SNAP that was described in the morning newsletter....You will be impressed.

PRIMARY ELECTION UPDATE:  Apologies for the morning COGS E-Newsletter not being specifically clear for Independent voters. Yes, you must declare which party ballot you want (1) when you ask for an early ballot through the Maricopa County website or by phone OR (2) on election day at the polling place where you can ask for a particular party ballot. If you are doing this online be sure which form you are filling out—their website can be confusing. The following link has an excellent graphic explanation by the Clean Elections Commission for the State of Arizona    http://www.azcleanelections.gov/independentinfographic

August 1 is the deadline for new registration.   August 19th is the deadline for Independents and others to request the early ballot.

KEY DATES from the Maricopa County Recorder website:

Voter Registration Deadline - Monday, August 1, 2016
Early Voting Begins - Wednesday, August 3, 2016
Last Day to Request an Early Ballot - Friday, August 19, 2016
Mail in Your Early Ballot - By Wednesday, August 24, 2016
Election Day - Tuesday, August 30, 2016

Even though Scottsdale's General Election is not until November, Scottsdale's terrific City Clerk's office is  hosting early voting inside City Hall from 9 - 4, Monday thru Friday (excluding legal holidays) beginning Wednesday, August 3.  It is always important that informed voters VOTE.
